OUR DENTISTRY SERVICES
CLEANINGS
We recommend a professional cleaning by a dental hygienist or dentist two times a year. This is a great opportunity to have an exam or possibly radiographs, in addition to pointers and tips on how to keep your smile healthy at home. Only dental professionals are trained to spot potential problems with the teeth, gums, or oral cavity.
EXAMS
Prevention is key! Most major dental problems can be avoided with great home oral care and regular dental exams and cleanings. This gives your dentist the opportunity to check for cavities, cracked teeth and restorations, problems with existing dental work, periodontal problems, and the hard and soft tissue of your mouth for abnormalities. Your oral health plays a significant role in your overall health, and we care about more than just your teeth!
RESTORATIONS
Teeth are the strongest substance in the body, but that doesn't mean they don't sometimes break, decay, or chip. We use quality materials to ensure that the teeth needing repair in our practice are both functional and esthetic, and last for many years to come.
ORAL SURGERY
We are in the business of saving teeth, but sometimes, teeth need to be removed. We take extra care to make sure this process is as atraumatic as possible and the recovery process is expedient. We also offer consultations for removal of wisdom teeth, with the option of sedation.
IMPLANTS
Implants are artificial tooth roots that can replace just one tooth or work in conjunction with dentures/prostheses to replace an entire jaw of missing teeth. Advancement in dental research and imaging has made this process more patient and dentist friendly and is quickly becoming the preferred method of replacing teeth. Ask us if you’re a candidate for dental implants–most likely, you are!
DENTURES
Not having teeth can make life very difficult. We think everyone should have the opportunity to smile, eat, and function normally. While there is truly nothing like natural teeth, we can work with our lab to fabricate dentures that can look natural and feel comfortable.
VENEERS
Veneers are porcelain overlays that are often placed on anterior teeth to correct discoloration or abnormally shaped teeth. These are also very technique-sensitive and are made by a lab tech offsite. They are then cemented to the prepared teeth permanently.
CROWN / BRIDGES
Crowns or “caps” are full-coverage restorations that are made of metal, porcelain-to-metal, or zirconia. These are used in situations when a tooth has been compromised and needs an all-encompassing restoration to give the tooth the strength it needs to function normally. These are constructed at an off-site laboratory and are very technique sensitive. Bridges are crowns that are fused together and have a “floating” tooth in the middle to replace one that has been lost, thus “bridging” a gap between teeth.
PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY
One common misconception is that baby teeth aren’t important because they’re just going to fall out anyway! This couldn’t be further from the truth. Primary teeth serve several purposes, the most important of which is acting as a space maintainer for the developing permanent teeth. If baby teeth are not properly cared for, infection, pain, or malocclusion can occur, which can require extensive correction in the future. We want your kids to be a part of our no-cavity club, and instill in them an appreciation for a lifetime of oral health!
ROOT CANALS
Root canals may be among the most dreaded procedures we perform. You may have heard someone say they’d rather have a root canal than do _____! However, we are of the opinion that this line of thinking is more historical than accurate. Improvements in dental anesthesia allows most root canals to be virtually painless and very similar to having a filling placed! These are necessary when a tooth’s nerve system has been compromised by decay, cracks, or trauma. Without this treatment, the tooth can potentially become painful, abscessed, and may require extraction. We believe it is a tried and true, effective treatment, and many times allows a patient to be relieved of pain or save a tooth!
SEDATION DENTISTRY
We offer Nitrous Oxide sedation, which may commonly be known as “happy gas.” This is safe, quick, and does not require limitations on diet or require an escort. There are very few side effects and can simply allow the dental procedure to be less stressful. Additionally, Dr. Render Parkman has been trained in intravenous (IV) sedation. This is a deeper level of sedation often utilized in longer, more difficult procedures (such as wisdom tooth removal.) This does require prior evaluation, limitation of food/liquid beforehand, and require that an escort be present during the procedure.
WHITENING SERVICES
We offer both at-home whitening treatments with custom made trays and in-office ZOOM! Whitening! While many over-the-counter treatments can achieve some results, only a dentist can get your teeth their whitest!
PERIODONTAL SURGERY
Sometimes periodontal disease can cause destruction of the bone and gums surrounding a tooth. In some cases, surgical procedures can improve this situation, deep-cleaning the tissue shaping the bone to make it more cleansible for the patient. Additionally, surgical procedures can correct situations like a “gummy smile” or recession of the gums.
EMERGENCY SERVICES
Life is unpredictable. Sometimes teeth get broken by a baseball or a popcorn kernel. Sometimes teeth start hurting without prior warning! We will do our best to alleviate this pain, addressing pain issues for our established patients on a same-day basis.
